The Most Creative Pixel: A Space Simulator
Machines are getting more intelligent and harder to understand at the same time. Artists can help with understanding a machine's intelligence by representing its internal workings in curious, fun, and potentially enlightening ways.
I imagine myself to be a pixel. The purpose of my life is to be as creative as possible. I'm bound by the four walls of the canvas and the code that describes my behavior. Is it possible to discover patterns that will surprise my programmer?
Behind this thought-experiment is my musing on combinational, exploratory, and transformational creativity described by Margaret Boden. With current machine learning libraries, can we build an intelligent pixel embodying the three types of creativity?
